Assistant Coach Rob Saner (1st Season)

Saner has coached for eight years across multiple levels. His coaching career began at Alfred's Rowing Club, in Cape Town, South Africa, after which he moved to his former high school, Diocesan College. In 2014, he came to the United States to pursue his Masters in Biomechanics at Barry University in Miami, Florida and joined the women's coaching staff. That year Barry won their first ever NCAA DII National Championship and the staff was named to the NCAA DII Coaching Staff of the Year.

In 2015, Robert took a position at the Miami Beach Rowing Club as the Men's Novice Head Coach. There he had success across all boats, culminating in a Florida State Championship in the men's novice 4+ and a silver in the South-East Regionals U17 8+. A South African native who immigrated to the United States in August of 2014, having completed his bachelors at the University of Cape Town in 2013, and his masters from Barry in 2016, Robert is now a PhD student at the University of Michigan, pursuing his doctorate in Kinesiology through the Neuromuscular and Rehabilitation Robotics Laboratory.
