MACRA 2019

April 28, 2019

Grand Rapids, MI – On the last weekend of April, the wolverines took a break from the stress of finals and studying to travel to Grand Rapids, Michigan to compete at the 2019 Mid-American Collegiate Rowing Association (MACRA) Championship. The team departed Ann Arbor well before sunrise Sunday morning to make the trek across the state to the race course at Riverside Park. The weather started off brisk in the morning, but warmed up nicely throughout the day, with an intermittent tail wind.

Heats racing began at 9 AM with all Michigan boats progressing to the Grand Finals. The blisteringly quick tail current made for very fast races for all crews. After a long day of racing, the Wolverines brought home Gold medals in the First Varsity 8+, Second Varsity 8+, First Freshman 8+, Second Freshman 8+, Freshman 4+ and silver medals in the Lightweight 4+, the Varsity pair, and the second Freshman 4+ (who finished behind the First Freshman 4+ in the same race), with the Varisty 4+ garnering a bronze medal.

In addition to the many gold medals, the team also brought home the Men's Team and the overall Team Points Trophies. It was a fantastic day to be a wolverine with Michigan taking home the Lindamood Team Points Trophy!
