After a week off, the team traveled to Worcester, MA for the National Invitational Rowing Championships (NIRC) on May 12, held on Lake Quinsigamond.
At this race, Michigan faced many funded Eastern schools, including Williams, Trinity, Wesleyan, Colby, and Coast Guard. This race did not distinguish between Novice and Varsity entries, allowing Michigan to have five 8+ entries and three 4+ entries. The races at the top of the roster proved hard to beat against some very fast teams, but Michigan showed its depth by earning a Silver in the Third Varsity 8, and Gold in the Fourth Varsity 8+ event with a second Michigan entry coming in 4th place in the same race. The Varsity 4+ took silver, with the Novice 4+ and the Novice Lightweight 4+, racing as second and third Varsity 4+s coming in first and third in the Petite Final.
