Knecht Cup

Cherry Hill, NJ – The Michigan Men's Rowing Team traveled to New Jersey for their next race and got on the water at Cooper River course on Saturday to the first nice weather they had seen this season. Michigan Fielded three Varsity 8's, three Varsity 4's and two Novice 8's against a combined field of Varsity and competitive club programs. All boats rowed in heats on Saturday and all boats progressed to the Grand finals in their event.
The first and second freshman 8's competed in the same Grand Final against Virginia A and B and Army A and B crews. Michigan 1F finished second behind Virginia with the 2F finishing 5th behind the Virginia 2F. The Michigan fours rowed good races with the Varsity 4 finishing 4th and the second Varisty 4 winning silver in a challenging field of small varsity programs, the 3rd Varsity 4 (entered as the "club 4) finished with a bronze medal. The second Varsity 8 finished 5th place behind Delaware, Temple and Mercyhurst in a very tough final. The Varsity 8 raced well and began finding their speed in the final; finishing with a bronze medal behind the Delaware and Colgate crews.
