Don Lubbers Cup
April 8, 2019
Grand Rapids, MI – With bad weather plaguing the Spring Lake course for the Don Lubbers Cup over the last several years, including the cancellation of the 2018 race, this year's regatta was moved to Grand Rapids on the course which will host this summer's Master's Nationals Regatta.
While the course changed, the format of the race stayed the same as previous years: multiple 3 or 4 boat races with different combinations of the 8 teams present, with each boat racing three times over the weekend. The winner was determined using a points system with points allotted for each race.
Michigan won both the Men's Points Trophy, as well as the Team Points Trophy, with first place finishes in the First Varsity 8+, the First and Second Freshman 8+, the Varsity 4+ and the Freshman 4+; and second place finishes in the Second and Third Varsity 8+, and the Second Freshman 8+. Michigan again retained the many Lubbers Cup trophies which are housed at the Longshore Indoor Facility.
